Property Appraisals

For any private or public sector organisation with responsibility for buildings, management of their estate is a significant issue. There may be buildings of a number of types and ages in a variety of conditions, and no less important is the engineering services infrastructure. All require regular maintenance as well as a strategy for refurbishment or replacement over time or as circumstances change. In this regard the property appraisal is an essential tool.

The Condition Appraisal assesses the elements that make up a building against pre-defined criteria and determines the work needed in maintenance, repair or replacement, together with an assessment of the likely financial implications. The report that ensues allows management strategies to be developed to make best use of resources.

The Function Appraisal can be an integral part of the Condition Appraisal or an exercise in its own right. It can relate to part or the whole of a single building or an entire estate, and can include the assessment of functional suitability, space utilisation, energy usage, fire safety as well as current condition and recommendations for maintenance if required.

TKL Architects has undertaken such appraisals for both large and small organisations, from parts of individual buildings to estates comprising dozens of buildings.
